Project
Natural Flood Management showcase

Description
A great opportunity installing 4 very different types of leaky dams. Installed not only to improve the woodland resilience with all the benefits NFM has, but also as a means to showcase what it can look like to other landowners as an educational feature. All consents and permissions were carried out.

Project
Bankside restoration

Description
Simple bankside interventions and habitat improvements were used when the river was low, using natural materials and a little skill on the chainsaw. These will stop bank erosion by installing brash faggots, 'laying' alder along banksides, positioning and securing felled limbs with the canopy still attached and planting willow cuttings. These take out the speed and power from the water and gradually fill with sediment, leaves and detritus.

Project
Teign Valley - Hedgelay

Description
A great job to end the season with lovely views and dry weather

Project
Pine Marten Glade creation and beech veteranisation

Description
Working closely with the 2 Moors Pine Marten Project, this funded piece of work created a glade specific to pine marten habitat and their prey.

Work also took place on a large beech requiring adding to pine marten habitat. Rather than simply ringbarking or felling this beech which was required to go due to the impact and future on the woodland it was causing, we created a multitude of habitats to host wildlife for many years and create a magnitude of standing and leaning deadwood. Limbs were winched and torn off exposing heart and sap wood, fracture and coronet cuts were made, bat roosts and slots put in along with a variety of different sized habitat holes, cavities and bird boxes. A bird box was also installed low down to allow groups to see how they were created.

Project
Lustleigh - Hedgelay

Description
A tricky job due to the steep bank on one side. All residings were dead-hedged and the end result was an immediate thick hedgerow.

Project
Monterey Pine Removal

Description
Due to a bark-infused join and limbs within reach of a road and various infrastructure, a decision was made to dismantle the Monterey. A safe and successful job achieved with great views.

Project
Natural England woodland work

Description
The main focus here was to clear endless amounts of holly opening up to improve light levels. Brash and residings were put to good use gully stuffing which is a form of NFM - this will filter water and slow the flow of the watercourse which in turn has multiple benefits.
